This month I’d like to introduce you to Nicole Porter. I met Nicole in a group meeting that was most likely orchestrated by Dennise Kowalczyk because well, that’s what she does. She provides space to build relationships for which I’m grateful for as I now know Nicole.
Let’s dig into some of the questions I asked Nicole about her business and her answers.
Why did you start your business?
First to have more flexibility in my schedule and to be with my children more. Second, to help small business owners and non-profits get more visibility using social media platforms.Â
Having been a chocolatier for 10 years before I opened this business, I saw how hard it could be for most people to run their business and maximize their presence on the platforms.
What types of changes do you see happening in the future or now for your business that will benefit your clients and new clients?
I see a more holistic marketing approach to help use social media better. We will also focus on using AI correctly to maintain a genuine presence on social media and in email. AI will only be growing in 2024 so it is important for our team to know the ins and outs of it.
What is your background in your field of work / expertise?
I have a bachelor’s degree in marketing however, Mark Zuckerberg was still building Facebook in his dorm room when I got my degree.
I went into the chocolate industry for many years after graduating and that is how I got my hands-on experience with social media and email marketing.Â
Once I had my third son, chocolate making became too labor intensive so I took a deep dive into learning social media marketing as well as getting experience by taking on a few local business accounts.
Why should businesses work with you and what sets you apart from other businesses like yours?
Most agencies like mine treat social media like traditional media and don’t consider the interactive nature of the platforms. It is not marketing media, it is social media. We handle all of our client’s interactions on the platforms, by going out and strategically commenting on other users’ posts. This greatly increases their visibility.
What types of clients do you tend to work with?
Non-profits and professional service businesses that have been in business for at least a few years.
What are your passions outside of work?
I love being with my family, husband, and 3 sons, 3 rescue dogs, and 7 ducks. I enjoy being outdoors in nature hiking or kayaking as well as reading and watching historical fiction.
What are your biggest successes in life or business?
Helping other business owners exceed expectations on social media, bring awareness to and improving their businesses.
