A Website Is A Window To The Online Universe

Having a great website is one of the most important aspects to your online presence, even if you’re a brick and mortar business.

Simply put, your website is how people find you and most people are shopping online, whether for a product or a service.

• Being online brings more interest to your business.

• Establishes relationships

• Shows Credibility and Professionalism

So how do you create a great website?

Preparation – A lot goes into having a great website.  Mapping out the goals of your site, what is your branding, work on your content & elaborate on the uniqueness of your business that puts you above your competitors.

Building a Website – it’s suggested to keep it clean. By that I mean, more white space, or use a soft background image as an overlay.  Less content but to the point content, which is where SEO is very important, along with a user friendly experience; easy and clear navigation.

Messaging

Your messaging should be engaging, enticing.  Let your homepage tell your story right out of the gate, so that without question, a visitor will know what your business is about and the products or services you offer.

Having a great website depends on your messaging.  Your messaging should be clear, whether in your content or your images.

One way to engage with messaging is to ask a question such as, What makes this candle smell so good?  What is the significance of this course?

Images are important to having a great website.  If you can, use unique images that portray your business.  Perhaps hire a photographer to assist with that.

You can also use  Canva to design your own images if you cannot afford a photographer right away.  When using Canva, be sure to incorporate your branding.

Image Size Matters

It comes down to resolution, which is your determined size.

For instance, images for a website header are generally 1024 x 768px or up to 1280px.

For general images in and throughout your text, shoot for at least 72 PPI (pixels per inch)

Purpose of your images

Your images not only need to look good, they should visually tell a story about your product or service. Adding content along with the photo is good as well.

Additionally, images help to build trust.  People are visual and want to “look” at what you have to offer as well as read about it.
